Hi Everyone -- a quick update on some changes at Giants of Nova Scotia.

When I started Giants of Nova Scotia 6+ years ago, hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA) had just been discovered in western Nova Scotia.

Unfortunately, HWA is now firmly established and is steadily moving eastward.

The group trying to manage HWA is called the Nova Scotia Hemlock Initiative (see www.nshemlock.ca ) which is a collection of government, non-government, community groups and individuals.

I've volunteered to help them with communications.  There is lots to do and as HWA impacts larger population centres, there will be even more.

I plan to carry on with Giants of Nova Scotia as in the past and initially there will be some cross posting between the two accounts.

If you are interested in HWA in Nova Scotia, I would encourage (welcome!) you to Like and/or Follow the Nova Scotia Hemlock Initiative Facebook and/or Instagram accounts.

Thank you for your interest and support!
